Used Vinyl Grading Scale

USED VINYL

When ordering from our used record pages please pay attention to the grading which will be noted in the description section, giving media condition and sleeve condition.

MINT
Absolutely perfect vinyl in every way. Certainly never been played quite usually still possibly sealed.

NEAR MINT (NM or M-)
A nearly perfect record. A NM record may also have never been played, or played only a few times, the vinyl will play perfectly, with no imperfections during playback.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+)
A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it.

VERY GOOD (VG)
There probably will be light lines across the surface of the record and some surface noise may be evident upon playing, especially in soft lower sections and during a song’s intro and fade, but this will not overpower the music.

GOOD PLUS (G+)
A record in Good Plus condition can be played through without skipping. But it may have some surface noise, light scratches, and visible groove wear.

GOOD (G)
A record in GOOD condition will have a lot of light scratches across both sides and may have significant background noise when playing.

FAIR (F)
The record is cracked, possibly warped, and may not play through without skipping or repeating. These are sometimes purchased by customers to replace an existing sleeve from their collection.

GENERIC
The term “generic” refers to a type of sleeve that is not specific to the release. A generic sleeve is either a plain sleeve or a company sleeve with standard company artwork.
