This man has 30,000 LPs in his collection, watch his story
This week, popular vinyl enthusiast Jake Kapusta on his Vinyl Hunters YouTube channel, spoke to one of London's most legendary vinyl collectors, Barry Winton.
Jake, who's record shopping antics with side kick Poppa Dave have been gradually gaining more views and followers, spent the day following renowned vinyl boffin Winton as he made his usual circuit around some of London's finer record stores.
The day culminated in Jake being offered the rare opportunity to view this mammoth collection back at Barry's London home.
Winton, who has been collecting records from he was a child, had the great fortune down through his many years as a writer and collector of music, to frequent the company of music icons such as Lemmy, Atomic Rooster, Amy Winehouse and Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page. He has also written books on record label history and collectors encyclopedias.
Watch this interesting insight into the lifetime of dedicated record collector.
Was this Smiths song secretly written about Jimmy Savile?
In a video this week, popular musician /singer / songwriter James Hargreaves speaks in depth about the long standing debate over the song lyrics of The Smiths 1986 smash hit "Panic" (Hang The DJ)
Was this song written about the horrific acts of notorious media personality & DJ, Jimmy Savile?
The question was raised by a subscriber of Hargreaves YouTube channel, which now has over 46,000 subscribers and features a lot of very interesting questions about popular music culture. The channel also features some of Hargreaves own excellent music productions.
It is very well documented that Morrissey had strong feelings over various press conspiracies, none more so than the BBC, who Savile worked with for so long.
The Smiths performed live at Eurotube 1986 where they brought a child on stage to solely sing the “Hang the DJ” lyrics. Many Smiths fans believe this gesture further proves exactly what Morrissey meant.
For me, part of the Morrissey / Marr songwriting genius is it's mystique and the fact that so much remains untold and is left to be dissected using your own assumptions and beliefs.
This articulately worded video from James Hargreaves sheds light on many of the questions surrounding this period in time and is well worth a watch for anyone who follows the world of songwriting.
A big massive Happy Christmas to family, friends and brilliant customers around the world. Not forgetting all of those loved ones who are no longer with us.
It has been a very tough year for myself and lots of my friends and family who have lost people very close to them. This time of year brings a lot of emotions to the surface and it is very important that we are there for those who may be struggling.
Let's raise a glass to those who won't be with us this year and also please spare a thought for the thousands of families in the various war torn nations of the world who will not get to celebrate.
So, ultimately please remember to look out for each other and show a little kindness wherever possible.
We are gutted to hear that Amp Fiddler has sadly passed away. The absolute definition of Detroit music royalty in our books and a massive influence on musicians from many musical persuasions and from all around the world.
Words below directly from Joseph's official Facebook page.
"We face the insurmountable responsibility of sharing the passing of Joseph “Amp” Fiddler.
Our beloved “Amp” Fiddler, Detroit’s own world renowned ambassador of funk, soul, &
electronic music, keyboardist, producer, Afro-futurist, and guiding force of light for so many, has transitioned at the age of 65. After an extensive and noble battle with cancer, he now gracefully rests in peace and power"

Brilliant reggae cover of this SADE song will lift your spirits
I always like to make time and check out some of the records that have sold in my shop before shipping.
This morning i was packing this beauty from Karen Smith on the brilliant Mango Records and i am ashamed to say that when i listened to this, i had not been previously aware of it.
Every single day i discover new songs and versions of songs that i didn't know existed, even after 32 years of running record shops.
I have well documented love of Sade but am always slightly sceptical of cover versions. I absolutely love this.
Produced by the legendary Sly & Robbie this cover version has such a beautiful, simplistic, happy vibe.
I'm wishing now that i had held on to this one. But alas, some fine collector of quality reggae in Glasgow is now the proud owner of this gem. Enjoy sir.

Had a great day of adding used records to the website today.
I have been digging deep into the vaults lately and adding records from across all the genres. Collections that were purchased almost 10 years ago are getting added to the site. I'm making it my goal to have every single record and CD listed for sale in the next 12 months. This should bring the inventory to over 35,000.
Anyone out there who also does this for a living will understand and appreciate how it can be a never ending battle. Once everything is added, the products that were added many years ago now require updating. Some of the more rare records naturally increase in value as they become more scarce and some decrease due to changing trends.
Every day i receive at least one sale through one of the platforms that was priced years ago and now is seriously underpriced compared to the others for sale around it. This never bothers me as i like the concept that if people dig, in the same way that they do in physical record shops, they will find a cheeky gem at a bargain price that the shop owner has missed. I do this myself when i visit shops around the world. I roll my sleeves up and get down and dirty under the racks, looking for the forgotten boxes.
Sadly shops like this are getting harder to find as even the charity shops these days have gotten wise to the price of vinyl.
This lovely and very rare white vinyl 10" single from Prince was one of my personal favourite finds of the day. Graded at a conservative VERY GOOD condition. Its not cheap, but i've nestled it price wise in between the other 2 UK copies for sale. It possibly won't be a fast seller, but with cool, rare and quirky records that doesn't bother me.
I'm keeping this little advert below for the Music Exchange Scheme pinned to the bottom for a while as i'm gradually developing that side of things alongside Belfast Underground. The WhatsApp link goes straight through to me, but please be advised that this is purely a text number.
Until tomorrow folks, have a lovely evening.

We are delighted to see that those lovely chaps at Coda_Belfast are gearing up for another night of fat ass loops that feature in some of the finest, proper techno known to man (and woman)
This time around they’ve drafted in the services of Italy’s brilliant Alarico, founder of Katana Records and artist for stacks of other top quality labels.
Belfast needs this night badly and I think that all proper techno enthusiasts should support these guys by popping down and jumping around for a while.
